The following message has been received from our DGE Anne Bartholomew. "Due to the very sad news that we heard yesterday evening, of the death of the Queen, we are awaiting information from RGB&I, but as a DGE I have received this as the Rotary Protocol. I would appreciate if you could forward to your members." The copy of the Rotary protocol on the death of a monarch is attached. Please be aware of its content and, if necessary, follow the path prescribed.

Here is the request for support at this year's Plum Festival received from Angela Taylor. If you are able to help, either early on Bank Holiday Monday, or at sometime during the day, please let Kit know as soon as possible and he will advise Angela. We were able to provide some stewarding support for the Carnival, so it would be good if we were able to turn out some Rotarians for the Plum Festival too. "Good morning Richard. I do hope you are well. Are you able to help us please? As you will know the Plum Festival is going to take place again this year and we find ourselves extremely short of volunteers - tragically a result of the pandemic, people have lost interest, become older, ill or have now other commitments. We are desperately short of marshalls and stewards (for road closures ) and I was wondering if anyone from Rotary would be kind enough to help us out. Obviously the more people we have the less time any one person will have to be present . Its mainly for Bank Holiday Monday to assist with manning exhibitor car parking at Abbey Park School (between 7 and 9.30am Manning the exhibitor /bandstand/disabled access gate on Abbey Road – this would be an all day job but obviously broken down in to perhaps 2 hr slots We also require marshalls for road closure points , directing classic cars onto the park; this would be first thing in the morning and then some of the closures will need a marshall in place throughout the day for emergency access etc If you think you may be able to help or would like to discuss in greater detail please don’t hesitate to call me." PS: If you have questions or are able to help, please contact Kit and not Angela.

Lynne Raymer has written asking for support for the Foodbank. Can we help? Lynne says "the Foodbank has been really busy recently. For example, I was Duty Manager a couple of weeks ago and we helped 11 clients, usually this time of the year it is 4/5. We have decided to have a Foodbank week 10th -17th July when we are asking the whole community to support us with supplies. It would be good if every Rotarian could support this .......as they say every little bit helps. The week begins with Foodbank service at the church in Wick on July10th beginning at 10.30." The following items are urgently required; * Tinned carrots * Tinned vegetables, eg peas * Tinned fruit * Fruit juice * UHT milk * Meat soup * Spaghetti in sauce * Custard * Washing powder & washing up liquid * Tinned meat * Tinned fish * All toiletries, eg toothpaste, shower gel * Coffee and tea * Smash * Tinned tomatoes * Sugar - small bags * Biscuits * Treats eg chocolate All supplies should be taken to the Foodbank at the St Andrew's Centre.
