On a glorious sunny afternoon, members of Pershore Inner Wheel Club finally closed its doors after 58 years of enthusiastic community spirit and endeavour, fully reflecting the organisation’s core values of ‘Friendship and Service’.
Chartered in 1967, the 19 remaining members and many friends enjoyed a festive garden party to celebrate and remember the many members, past and present, and the long list of charities and other organisations that had benefitted from their support.
Over the years, many fundraising events had been held, often involving food, afternoon teas, coffee mornings, a fashion show, quiz nights, garden parties, a concert at Pershore Abbey and, in March 2025, an inspirational International Women’s Day.
Local charities supported by Pershore Inner Wheel have included Pershore Foodbank, Number 8 Arts Centre, The Riverside Centre, Caring Hands in the Vale, St Richards Hospice, Acorns Children’s Hospice, Campden Home Nursing, Midlands Air Ambulance, The Stroke Association and Parkinson’s UK.
Further afield and internationally the members have supported Hope and Homes for Children, Mary’s Meals, Water Aid and The Himalayan Trust.
Although the club closed officially on 30 June 2025, all the remaining members were invited to become Honorary members of Pershore Rotary and, through that, ensure that they can continue to support the local and international communities in the future.
