Off to a great start
Rotarian Peter is off to a great start with his marathon walk in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
Rotarian Peter is off to a great start with his marathon walk in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. In less than a week he has completed over half of the distance Prostate Cancer UK set as the target, although Peter has set himself a bigger target.
"In 2023 I did a double Marathon Walk, just over the 52 miles, and this year I am aiming to do at least that again. In addition, I may be walking but I am aiming to achieve a speed of under 10 minutes per km. That's over 6km per hour, not exactly Usain Bolt (his record 100m was run at 43.99 km/hr), and you don't half feel it on the legs after a couple of miles. Some Rotarians have generously offered to walk with me, but I will not expect them to do a Usain Bolt on me. Talking of generosity, I have already raised over £380 out of my £1,000 target and I am so grateful to those who have contributed. It is that generosity and the really important Prostate Cancer Uk cause that keep me going - even one morning starting out at -8c."
