September was Basic Education & Literacy month in the Rotary calendar and a series of Facebook postings were run throughout the month. I must take this opportunity to thank Holly Abbott for putting the postings together based on information we have jointly researched and introduced.
For those members who do not access the club's Facebook page, the attached document shows details of all the postings made.
The emphasis has been on promoting local organisations that support adult reading, such as Pershore Library, Coach House Books and Read Easy Evesham & Pershore - an organisation that we have helped financially in recent years.
In addition, the postings have highlighted the Dictionaries4Life donated to Primary School pupils and our Youth activities, including the Young Writers and Youth Speaks competitions. The aim being to see if parents and guardians, if not the schools, can encourage students to ask about the competitions.
Finally, we've highlighted the work of the Jinja Educational Trust based in Uganda. This is a schools based project brought to our attention by Mina Crisp. It's anticipated that the club will support this project at some point in the future.
